Founded in 2016, Justin Soderberg’s podcast went by a different name…Just Another Podcast. However, due to the fact that Justin dragged his feet getting it off the ground, the name was taken by another podcast. The success of their podcast made the decision simple, it’s time for a new name and The Maine State of Mind was born.

The Maine State of Mind podcast features weekly conversations with a guest or two and mostly includes people or businesses from the great State of Maine. However, that does not exclude any guest from appearing on the podcast. The conversation is usually centered around the guest’s business or a subject based around their background. Additionally, every few weeks there is a regular segmented podcast that features either Comic Books, Movies or Beer depending on the scheduled. Those are entitled, Pull List, Movie Night, and Hoppy Hour respectively and feature the same guest co-host on each segment.

About The Host

Justin was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He spent the first 10 years of his life in Kittery, Maine, before moving to Bangor, Maine in 1996. His Dad, Adam Soderberg, was studying to become a Pastor in Bangor and of course the family came along.

In 2006, Justin moved to the North Shore of Massachusetts and spent the next 10 years between Haverhill, Lowell and Andover. During this time, he had a career as a graphic designer. He dabbled in sports journalism, covering the likes of the Boston Bruins, College Hockey, MMA (including three UFC events), the PGA Tour, Rally America, Lowell Spinners (Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) and so much more.

Justin returned to the Greater Bangor Area in 2016. He spent a short time at Geaghans Brothers Brewing before joining the team at Orono Brewing Company as the General Manager and Graphic Designer.

Soderberg married his partner-in-crime, Taylor, in the middle of a pandemic in 2020. They reside in Orrington, Maine and are expecting their first child, a boy, in June 2021.

Justin enjoys talking. He enjoys talking even more when the subject is one of his passions and that is the main reason this podcast was founded. Enjoy.
